Message 1) We don't really know this for a fact because the test wasn't scientific. They didn't test the exact same exhaust with 2.5 and 3.0". Instead they threw in a nice secondary benefit being a proper X-pipe and THAT may have caused the increase (in fact, it probably did). We just don't know.

2) No one said it would lower peak horsepower indefinitely. When almost everyone in the archives mentioned "hurting" performance it was in relation to what you don't care as much about: power delivery. I don't even like to call it "hurting" so much as a 2.5" system on a stock turbo car is the "better" choice. Of course, that is my opinion.
